Energy Projects Built Smarter
Independent development advisory for solar + battery storage projects, combining more than a decade of hands-on experience with AI-assisted project intelligence.
The problem we solve
Too many projects fail after the money is spent
A large share of proposed solar and storage projects never reach operation. Many fail only after site control, early engineering, utility studies and local permitting have already been paid for. Those that do finish often take years longer than planned.
Every project depends on landowners, towns, utilities, engineers, EPC contractors, lenders and incentive programs, and each specialist sees only part of the picture. We work where those pieces meet: helping strong projects get past the barriers that stall them, and flagging weak ones early, so capital and time go where they can succeed.
Who we work with
For everyone who needs projects to reach operation
- Developers
- Investors & project buyers
- Lenders & tax-credit investors
- Utilities
- Municipalities & institutions
- Large energy users
- EPC & engineering firms
How we work
Experience + AI + Evidence
Experience
Judgment from real projects
Peter Rundle has developed solar and battery storage projects since 2014, from site control and permitting through interconnection, EPC, incentives and financing.
SAIDS
AI-assisted project intelligence
SAIDS, our Solar + Storage Intelligent Development System, keeps an auditable project record, tracks utility and permitting milestones, flags inconsistencies and open risks, and compares alternatives. Peter reviews every conclusion.
Evidence
Grounded in utility data
We study utility interconnection records to learn where projects stall and how long they take, so our advice rests on evidence, not anecdote.
About Us
Rundle Energy Advisory is an independent advisory firm founded by Peter Rundle, a solar and battery energy storage (BESS) developer since 2014. We advise developers, investors, lenders, utilities, municipalities and energy users on community solar, commercial & industrial solar and storage projects.
REA is advisory only. We have no ownership, development or construction interest in the projects we review, and we never compete for a client’s project.
Our advice rests on a real development record: Peter and his partners have invested over $55 million to develop and/or construct twelve community solar projects in Massachusetts and Maryland totaling more than 22.7 MW. He pairs that experience with AI-assisted project analysis, and reviews every conclusion before it reaches a client.
EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE ADVICE
A Decade of Solar Development
Peter Rundle begins solar development in Charleston, SC, identifying optimal solar ground sites and securing long-term leases with Massachusetts property owners.
Enters an agreement with Clean Energy Collective to sell solar site leases and projects suited for 1 MW community solar in Massachusetts.
Sells its first community solar site lease and project, in Lancaster, MA, followed by four more Massachusetts site leases.
Develops its first project in Wareham, MA and sells it to an institutional investor at notice to proceed; sells two more project sites.
Completes development of another project with its EPC partner and sells it to an institutional investor; contracts with Tesla (SolarCity) to sell five solar site leases.
Expands into Maryland and New York. Develops and places into service Maryland’s first two community solar projects, totaling over 4 MW.
Invests in engineering and interconnection for the Haverhill, MA project, secures 100+ letters of intent across MA, MD and NY, and builds a five-project pipeline.
Completes development of the Haverhill project — one of the first community solar projects in Massachusetts with battery storage — and sells it to an institutional investor.
Haverhill City Council unanimously supports the Amesbury Line Road array; the Spencer Planning Board approves the 2 MW Spencer solar + storage project.
Secures a landfill solar lease with the Village of Brockport, New York, and advances Spencer through National Grid interconnection studies.
Peter Rundle launches Rundle Energy Advisory, an independent advisory firm, and begins building an AI-assisted project intelligence platform.
Expanding the advisory practice across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Advisory Services
How We Help
Independent, owner-side advice at every stage of development, from early screening to financial close.
Services
Owner-side advice at every stage
Stopping a weak project early is a successful development decision. Helping a strong one past the barriers that stall it is the other half of our work.
- Screen — fatal-flaw and viability review; site selection and site control; permitting readiness for planning board, zoning and conservation commission review
- Interconnect — utility interconnection strategy, study review, upgrade exposure and schedule risk
- Build — solar + BESS system development, equipment strategy, EPC scope and pricing review
- Finance — incentive, domestic-content and tax-credit issues (for your tax and legal advisers); capital planning and lender/investor preparation
- Manage — project dashboards, document control, data-room preparation, developer mentoring and independent owner-side review
